Preparing for Your REMOTEi Session

What are the system requirements to use REMOTEi?

Whether you use Windows or Mac, you will need a strong internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. Review our technical requirements to make sure your system is ready for REMOTEi

Can I take my exam on my tablet or Chromebook?

The use of the following is not currently supported:

  • Tablets
  • Chromebooks
  • Touchscreens…

What forms of ID are valid/required?

All exams require a photo ID that is:

  • Not expired
  • Government-issued
  • In English

How should I prepare before my exam?

Computer

  • Ensure you have closed all other programs on your computer including VPNs.
  • Disconnect any external monitors and remove them from the room.
  • Use a hardwired internet connection if possible.

Your Room

  • Clear your workstation and the room of any non-approved materials and clutter.
  • Check the lighting in the room you’ll use for testing to ensure…
  • Testing is not allowed in bathroom or outside
  • Make sure the room is free of noise and interruptions; no one else may enter the room

What materials are allowed?

You should check the rules for your specific exam, but please be sure to have:

  • Have your ID and approved materials ready to show to the Proctor
  • If you are not using a detachable webcam or laptop, have a reflective item such as a mirror….

What materials are prohibited?

Please note that you will be asked to remove any unnecessary items that are in the testing area. The most common prohibited items are:

  • Headphones
  • External displays if you are using a laptop or additional monitors
  • Personal belongings such as cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices
  • Writing instruments (unless specifically approved for your exam or accommodation)

How long will my session take?

In addition to the time you are allowed for your exam, you should plan for

  • A few minutes to verify your identification and secure the testing environment
  • Additional time necessary to repeat security procedures after any breaks during your exam
  • Time to resolve any technical issues that may arise
